Dr. Austin Harris M.D. is a Board-Certified Cardiothoracic Anesthesiologist

Austin Harris MD completed his Anesthesiology residency at the University of California Irvine (UCI), and his Cardio-Thoracic Anesthesiology Fellowship at Keck Hospital of USC. Even before beginning his private practice, Dr. Harris was finding that ketamine, a rarely used anesthetic tool, could have profoundly positive outcomes when utilized with specific patients.

This sparked his in-depth research of ketamine’s previously obscure properties, and its remarkable potential in treating patients suffering from mental health, chronic pain, and addiction struggles. Dr. Harris focused first on surgical patients presenting with unique mood, pain, and opioid dependency.

Then, after perfecting these techniques at medical offices across southern California, Dr. Harris formed NeuroRelief™ Ketamine & Infusion Therapy (Sherman Oaks, CA) to bring these successful results to the entire patient population. This much-needed service is now benefiting thousands of clients across the world.

Dr. Harris is everything you want a perfect medical professional to be: knowledgeable, open minded and extremely compassionate. I’ve been suffering with intense gastric pain and other gastric symptoms that I developed after an abdominal surgery for almost a year. No medicine or diet could help with the awful pain that woke me up every day and continued to make me miserable throughout the day. The treatment that Dr. Harris provided not only almost completely eradicated the pain itself but has also took me out of the extremely depressed state that chronic pain put me into. I feel lighter and happier than I’ve ever felt and I feel like I finally have my life back after being completely physically and mentally crushed by the pain for so long. Every day that I wake up pain free I am grateful for everything Dr. Harris has done to help me start truly living again.

The service I received from Dr. Harris was outstanding. He strives not only to make his clients comfortable before, during and after treatment but to also make sure that their ketamine dosing needs are met. His background in cardiac thoracic anesthesia combined with his drive to get things right is invaluable in delivering an excellent ketamine infusion experience. I was nervous during my first treatment and he took steps to see to it that my subsequent treatments were enjoyable, and they were very much so. In addition, he tracked my progress daily with a cool app I used to provide him with feedback on how I was feeling. Dr. Harris definitely had my best interest at heart.

In all of my searching and attempts at finding a solution whether it be the countless doctors I saw and tests that they ordered from an endoscopy to colonoscopy, x-ray, CT scans and a MRI for my abdominal pain that still has no known source I decided to look into ketamine infusions. My fiancé receives them once a year through Kaiser Permanente for her chronic pain condition, CRPS, so I was somewhat familiar with them and the benefits they could provide. I had read and learned about not only the physical side that ketamine could help with but also the mental aspect of helping with depression and anxiety. Whether it be a pre-existing case of mental frustration or one spurred from a painful injury the ketamine had the potential to help either way. It was the ONLY thing that had any type of a tangible result and I’m so glad I made the decision to have them done. It didn’t instantly make my pain go away after completing my treatments although that has been the case for some individuals. It did however help me reframe the negative emotions I had built up around the pain I have been experiencing and remind me that there’s more to life than just the painful parts and the struggles one may endure even though the difficult things can be easy to be consumed with. Dr.Harris has to be one of the most kind and genuine people I have ever met. From day one of talking on the phone about what treatment option may work best for my situation I could tell he was truly eager to help me get to a better place in life both mentally and physically. I have never felt so completely cared for in all aspects of health while also receiving a feeling of care on a more personal level. Dr. Harris is completely dedicated to his work with his patients. My first day of treatment he had a really bad car accident and ended up with multiple compression fractures in his spine. This was a Friday, and although he understandably cancelled that day by Monday he was back in the office seeing patients. Working through the pain knowing how much patients like me were depending on him to find relief. Literally one of the most selfless people I have ever had the honor of meeting. This treatment and my interactions with Dr. Harris are something that have changed my life and I will never forget it.

Dr. Harris is a gifted and passionate doctor. His insights into the human condition are second to none. Before he treats his patients he spends hours listening, assessing, asking questions, and explaining the whole process. He helped my whole family and yet only treated one. He helped us to see what was really important and how to make change. The clinic is comfortable and the staff are very friendly and helpful not to mention efficient. I never felt as though they were after our money. They were incredibly flexible and we got over 25% covered on insurance. This is NOT the case with all Ketamine infusion clinics. Thank you, Dr. Harris.

My husband has been struggling with severe abdominal pain for over a year now and hasn’t been able to find answers, as of yet, through his doctors. It has been a difficult year that has really taken its toll on him both physically and mentally. The depression and anxiety he has been experiencing with the pain has just been crippling. We really felt like we didn’t know how to get him out of this mind state. I have been getting ketamine infusions for 4 years for my CRPS and know how it can help both with pain and with depression and anxiety, so I suggested we find somewhere for him to get infusions.
I found Dr. Harris at NeuroRelief through the association of ketamine physicians search tool. I actually reached out to 8 different locations and Dr. Harris was the first to get back to me, despite it being a Sunday. This first phone call really set him apart from the other clinics. All of the other places had a random person from a call center contact us, seemingly reading off a script to gather information. So impersonal.
I could tell by speaking with Dr. Harris that his approach of one size fits one really was the best we could find and that he was not only extremely intelligent as a doctor but truly cared about his patients as a person. I would describe talking with Dr. Harris as feeling like you’re talking to your best friend who also happens to be an amazing doctor. He really works at making you feel comfortable to open up and get to work on the issues you are presenting with.
The 3 weeks of treatments not only decreased the pain my husband was experiencing, but it also gave him a totally fresh perspective on what he was experiencing and taught him how to check back into life instead of checking out from the pain.
As a bonus, we were also able to add on NAD+ infusions and a few Vitamin C/micronutrient infusions to really boost my husbands ability to heal. We had been reading about these extra infusions and inquired with him on our 3rd visit and were happily surprised to find out he does both, as he doesn’t advertise this!
We are so incredibly grateful for Dr. Harris and Nancy for their kindness and continued support in figuring out what’s going on with my husbands health. Dr. Harris has given us invaluable guidance on ways to continue searching with my husbands doctors to figure out the problem and our relationship hasn’t ended despite the treatments being done. Dr. Harris is truly invested into you once you are his patient and we feel so blessed to have found him!

Truly wonderful clinic and staff. The clinic runs a fantastic 6 treatment program with coaching sessions. As a long time depression sufferer, I couldn’t have been happier with my choice. Dr. Harris is informative, sensitive and understanding. Extremely professional with excellent bedside manner. His staff of nurses headed by Emma couldn’t have been nicer, gentler or more encouraging. This clinic is for you if you’re looking for a holistic approach, with fantastic aftercare.

It has been about three weeks since I finished my last treatment at NeuroRelief, and I wanted to take a moment to thank Dr. Harris and everyone in the clinic for their wonderful care. At the end of April, I had been struggling with an episode of depression and anxiety that been going on for about 9 months, and my mental health had deteriorated so much that I was scared and knew that I needed to seek help immediately. I am glad that I found Dr. Harris and his wonderful team. Dr. Harris was very kind and very generous with his time, and I always felt that he was personally invested in my well-being. For my first visit, he spent more than an hour explaining the origins of depression and anxiety and taught me strategies to be more present in my own life, and he explained how IV Ketamine would change my brain and help me absorb those lessons and live in the present. Then I had my first two hour infusion and indeed, afterwards, everything changed. The cloud that covered me for the last 9 months dissipated, and it was like the entire world was brighter. In the past, my depressive episodes would slowly improve over months, and the process was agonizing, but with IV Ketamine the relief was immediate, and the change was like night and day. Like Dr. Harris explained, I was finally able to live in the present, and enjoy the present, instead of dwelling on the past or worrying about the future, and the critical voice that always followed me went away, and I started being able to enjoy life. Afterwards, I continued with 5 more infusions, as that was the stabilization protocol, and again, each visit Dr. Harris took the time to talk to me before and after each infusion, to review the guidance that he had given me at that first visit. Right now, it has been more than a month since my first infusion, and I am happy (yes, actually “happy”) to report that the treatment has continued to work. Since my first treatment I have encountered stressors that would have previously caused me severe depression and anxiety, but now they no longer have that affect on me. I know, of course, that there is always a chance that the depression and anxiety might come back, so I am continuing to review the strategies that Dr. Harris has taught me, and I am continuing to practice meditation. Dr. Harris and his team have changed my life for the better, and if I need to, I will revisit them again, and I definitely recommend NeuroRelief to everyone! read less

I’ve been reading about the benefits of Ketamine infusion treatments for years, but had not thought about it as an option for myself until about a month ago. I recently got out of a 19 year relationship. The most recent 5 1/2 years, my soon-to-be ex-husband was abusive towards me (domestic violence). I’ve been dealing with PTSD, flashbacks, panic attacks, anxiety, and depression. It’s been a living nightmare for me. I see a psychiatrist, domestic violence therapist, and a pastoral counselor/MFT. I take an antidepressant and anti anxiety medication. Despite all this, I was still in a terrible place and desperate for relief. Living every day in bed crying in a state of panic with no drive for life is no way to live. I called Dr Harris and he spent about an hour on the phone with me explaining the treatment process and getting my history (he has a really soothing voice, which comforts me.) I finally felt a glimmer of hope. The first time I saw Dr Harris, I was in full panic/anxiety mode – if I were him I probably would’ve called for an emergency psychiatric hold – I can chuckle about it now, thank goodness. Dr Harris was super patient with me and again explained the treatment process in detail, asked me personal questions, and answered all my questions. He’s spent SO much one-on-one time with me throughout all this, counseling and comforting me. I’ve had a total of 6 treatments thus far. I went into each one with less anxiety and more hope. I think it was after the 3rd treatment where I really started to notice a difference. I no longer kept my phone on silent all day avoiding my friends. I came out of my room and socialized with my family. I started to get out of the house by running small errands and spending time with people. Keep in mind, this isn’t JUST Ketamine infusions. We get the FULL package! Dr Harris gives us ways to cope and better improve our lives, implementing CBT and journaling our feelings daily Dr Harris makes himself available to us 24/7, and I’ve called him freaking out with some petty things. Dr Harris’ staff (Asia & Nancy) are total sweethearts and accepted me being the huge mess I was. They talked to me, calmed me down, made sure I was as comfortable as possible, and made me laugh. I know this is a super long review, but I need y’all to know what a huge impact Dr Harris and his overall treatment plan has made in my life! I know the infusions are very personalized, but I believe I was able to work on myself and my issues during these times. I no longer dread that I was given another day to live. I have a new drive for life and take each day as it comes – a beautiful opportunity to live life to the fullest! Thank you Dr Harris, Asia, and Nancy for blessing me with this gift! I am eternally grateful for all of you! This is a blessing you can’t put a price on!
